It is getting warm here in Amsterdam, and I was feeling super overheated, a little aggravated and needed to cool myself and my blood down.
In Ayurveda, watermelon is considered a very cooling substance and is more than 90% water. It cools the blood and urinary tract, literally rinsing away excess heat. It is calming to both Vata & Pitta, as well as deeply hydrating.
The basil adds it's own medicinal value also! It is beneficial for digestion, is a strong anti-inflammatory, fights free radicals and can reduce anxiety.
This recipe is so easy and it’s delightful! The basil really brings out the sweet and refreshing goodness of the watermelon!
RECIPE:
4 cups fresh watermelon
1 cup ice
6-8 basil leaves
Opt. fresh mint for garnish
