SHADRASA || There are six tastes according to Ayurveda, and we need all of them in our diet. They are; sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent & astringent.
Each taste is derived from 2 of the 5 elements and brings its own unique qualities and effects to the body and mind. Sometimes we can use a taste to bring balance to the system. While other times too much of any one taste can cause health problems.
The sweet taste, madhura, is the taste of love ♡. It is grounding, unctuous and nourishing. It helps to bring moisture to the inner body, happiness to the mind and enhances Ojas (immunity).
I made this mousse a lot for women during postpartum, the sweet taste is especially important. It helps to build tissues, contributes to breast milk production, gives strength, calms vata and brings feelings of joy and bliss! It makes a new momma feel loved! ♡
But also, we can all enjoy it for a healthier decadent treat!
Here is the recipe!
Ingredients
2 ripe avocados
1/4 cup raw honey or maple syrup
1/2 cup cacao powder
1 Tbs coconut oil
1 Tbs pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup alternative milk (coconut or oat)...can use for thinning to desire consistency
optional spices: pinch of cardamom or cinnamon
Optional toppings: crushed nuts, cacao nibs, coconut flakes, dried rose, bee pollen, dried fruits like Goji or Mulberries
Instructions
In a food processor or blender mix the avocado, honey, cacao, coconut oil, vanilla and salt with 1/4 cup water or milk of choice...Blended up until smooth and creamy. If the moose is too thick add more water or milk a little at a time, but you don’t want it to become too thin.
Top it with whatever goodies you want and store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days
